It's been a wonderful year! Here's some of the things we did last year to give our youth a second chance:
SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMSend dozens of students to college every year. Top Achievers are nominated for the Trescony scholarship award. Meet for weekly check in dinners at DVC and LMC.
PAID 6 MONTH INTERNSHIP20 hours a week at $10.50 per hour. Meet with Executive Director once every 2 weeks for career development. This program provides a transition from incarceration to college or a new career.
THREE CAREER DAYSOnce a year at Hall twice a year at Orin Allen Youth Facility. Members of the public inspire our youth to make new dreams.

THE HALL CLOSET THRIFT STOREProvided gently used, bikes, clothes, and shoes for youth in the juvenile justice system from the The Hall Closet Thrift Store.
CHRISTMAS CLOSET THRIFT STOREAssembled and Delivered 280 Care Packages filled with basic goods and books on Christmas morning. Brought in 30+ members of the community to sing 12 Days of Christmas to each unit. Decorated the units with donations from the Christmas Closet Thrift Store.

· Worked with Los Cerros Middle School to Deliver 35 Thanksgiving Baskets for Thanksgiving dinner
· Assembled 700 Student of the Week Bags for Mt. McKinley School in Juvenile Hall · Assembled hundreds of holiday bags, birthday bags with hand written cards, all to remind the youth we care · Filled 42 Probation Counselor Requests ranging from word comprehension games to basketballs for Juvenile Hall · Helped youth go to sport camps, obtain driver's licenses, and make rent · Provided backpacks filled with supplies for teens graduating the Young Offenders Training Program and the Girls in Motion Program and celebrated their graduation · Provided 52 new glasses and repaired 5 · Worked with the Library for Speaker Program, and Book Wish List |
· Funded programs at OAYRF, like Latino History Month and Black History Month which culminates in a scholarship winner
· Help youth get to work and school with public transit passes. · Supported the Chaplaincy and Late Night Readers Program · Provided 52 new glasses and repaired 5 · Provided non-irritating soap and hygiene products to youth in Juvenile Hall · Funded $1000 in laser tattoo removal · Worked with the Library for Speaker Program, and Book Wish List · Funded programs at OAYRF, like Latino History Month and Black History Month which culminates in a scholarship winner · Help youth get to work and school with public transit passes. |
